I was recently able to interview a professional Interior Designer, Kristen Fegale. An amazing woman who worked with Emily Summers for over 10 years before branching out and starting her own company. In 2015 Kristen started Kristen Fegale Interiors, they now cater to mainly mid to high-end residential clients. She is located in Dallas, Texas with her husband and two kids.
Kristen has been interested in all sorts of art and architecture-related things since she was young. Her sister was an artist and really encouraged her as she was growing up, along with her aunt who was a stylist and Kristen wanted to follow in her footsteps. So Kristen went to the University of Southern Mississippi majoring in Interior Design and minoring in Art to become a stylist. However, along the way she became enchanted with Interior Design and decided that she wanted to follow that career path instead of that of a stylist. She eventually graduated from Southern Miss, Summa Cum Laude with an Interior Design degree. She now has won several awards for both Historic and Commercial Design.
Kristen was very nice and excited to talk do the interview and share her knowledge and experience as a designer who has been working in her chosen trade for over 10 years. She really wanted to make sure that I understood that one of the most beneficial things I could do, especially starting out, is to work with someone else who is more experienced and is likely to catch mistakes that might pop up before they become a problem and help me to learn from them and move forward. As well as to pay attention to those who have more experience than me as they will be able to help me continue to learn in whichever way I may need. Kristen was amazing and ridiculously helpful during her interview, she really helped me get a better idea of what would come out of a degree in Interior Design and what it would be like to work with others in the process of a project.
